Year 11 had their annual Apprenticeship Awareness assembly today run by ASK (Apprenticeship, Knowledge & Support)
This week, a cohort of year 8 girls delved into the CyberFirst Girls Competition. This event aims to ignite interest in technology among young women and encourage them to consider a career in cyber security. Girls from schools across the country joined in, working in teams of up to 4. They spent the day navigating through challenges spanning cryptography, logic, artificial intelligence, and networking, all competing for the prestigious title of cyber security champions.
The room buzzed with enthusiasm as these girls took on a variety of challenges, demonstrating their skills across different difficulty levels, They’ve stacked up an impressive score, but the competition is ongoing, set to wrap up on November 30th. The anticipation for the results run high among the participants.
ASK ran a mock assessment centre for Year 13 students who are applying for an Apprenticeship. The workshop included a mock (group) interview

Year 13 students participated in a workshop led by ASK (Apprenticeship, Knowledge and Support) looking at supporting students through the interview stages of an Apprenticeship application including a mock group interview.
All year groups have a special assembly over the next two weeks with two members of the Hertfordshire Constabulary presenting: “Lives not Knives”

An essential session for all young people as they move forward in their levels of independence. This street first Aid teaches life saving techniques including: (1 DRS ABC, the basic acronym for first aid. (Danger, Response, Shout for help. Airways, Breathing, CPR.) (2 The recovery position and how to place someone in it. (3 CPR, what is involved and how to perform it. (4 How to deal with bleeding or stab wounds. (5 scenario-based situations where a friend has taken too much alcohol or drugs and how to respond.
