Yavneh College is committed to a whole school approach to wellbeing for students, staff and parents; encouraging a wellbeing culture and awareness that is weaved throughout the fabric of the school.
What is Wellbeing?
Our wellbeing is part of our overall health. Some of the things that make up our wellbeing, which can also be described as our mental health, are:
- How we feel, think, and behave
- How we cope with the ups and downs of everyday life
- How we feel about ourselves and our life
- How we see ourselves and our future
- How we deal with negative things that happen in our life
- Our self-esteem and confidence
- How stress affects us
Our whole-school approach to wellbeing for our students, staff and parents aims to support the people in our community to be able to make the most of their potential, cope with life and ultimately thrive and flourish.
We do this using a variety of approaches, including Growth Mindset, PERMA and The Five Ways to Wellbeing, as well as through pastoral support, extra-curricular activities, the enrichment programme, external speakers, events, community partnerships and much more.
The school is participating in the Community Wellbeing Project which aims to address the increasing mental health challenges facing Jewish children and young people today. Through working with students, staff and parents the project aims to promote positive emotional wellbeing throughout the community.
To support staff wellbeing at Yavneh the school has a Staff Wellbeing policy, our staff wellbeing working group and wellbeing team, Wellbeing Day’s for all staff, CPD opportunities and more. Through these initiatives we strive to make the school a safe and caring place for all our staff.
