As part of our whole school careers programme we are very lucky to be partnered with Communities 1st, an organisation developing, connecting and supporting voluntary and community organisations in a number of districts including Hertsmere.
Through this partnership we were delighted to welcome twenty local volunteers representing a wide range of professions and industries to work with small groups of our Year 10 students. Working in these groups, each student took part in an individual interview and was given feedback both from the interviewer and the other students in the group.
A large group of year 7 and 8’s were taken to the Big Bang Fair in Birmingham. They had a brilliant day packed full of exciting, interactive activities designed specifically for 11-14 year olds in mind, to provide the best careers inspiration, advice and opportunities to meet with real scientists and engineers. The students had an amazing time, thank you to our wonderful Science department for organising such an exciting trip!
We were delighted to welcome the fabulous Brendi Waks (author) who ran a fascinating interactive session about Psychopaths for Sixth Form students.
We had the pleasure of welcoming back Alumni today. Year 12 students were able to ask questions about different universities, apprenticeships and careers. We would like to thank our Alumni for their time today.
A huge thanks to crime writer Abi Silver (author) for sharing her tips and gruesome tales with us as part of our LRC crime reading month celebrations
Year 9 had a careers assembly today run by a Lauren Christy (Talent Manager, Elstree Studios) who spoke to the students about the huge range of creative industries and apprenticeship pathways within TV and film production.
