Faraday Challenge

Yavneh hosted JCOSS and Hertswood this year to compete in the Faraday Challenge, run by the Institute Of Engineering And Technology. Year 8 pupils had to design and create a working prototype of a device which could be used to protect parcels from being damaged by rain or theft. JCOSS won the challenge and their score will be entered onto the leader board to be entered in the final. Overall it was a thoroughly enjoyable and rewarding day.

AJEX PARADE (November 2022)

Yavneh College Sixth Form students were proud to represent our school at the annual AJEX parade, honouring Jewish ex servicemen and women.

Generation Hertsmere

Approximately 35 students from Years 10 and 11 attended a Careers Fair run by Hertsmere Borough Council in partnership with The Hertfordshire Careers Hub.

With developments such as Sky Studios now open, along with the expansion of Elstree Studios, the opening of a Lidl superstore and a growing pharmaceutical sector, Hertsmere is an exciting place to live and work.

The event was a great success.

Royal Institution STEM Masterclasses

Yavneh Sixth Formers excel at Primary Masterclasses yet again!

In May 2022, Ms. Alison Eves of the Royal Institution of Great Britain kindly came to Yavneh College to train 6th formers in the art of STEM Masterclasses. The Royal Institution is an independent charity set up to encourage the public to think more deeply about Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. The Royal Institution Primary Mathematics Masterclasses are extra-curricular problem solving/investigation enrichment sessions for Primary school students. The general aim of the Masterclasses is to inspire an appreciation of STEM that is long-lasting.

In November 2022, sixteen year 13s led sessions for year 6s at Yavneh Primary School. Their presentations were extraordinarily successful as these young minds were mesmerised by Advanced Level STEM concepts ranging from Algorithms to Molecular Structure Nomenclature. The year 6s were passionate about their learning and the year 13s put much effort, enthusiasm and preparation into their presentations which involved active learning strategies.

We are grateful to Ms. Alison Eves of the Royal Institution for training the sixth formers. Well done to our Sixth Formers for growing their pedagogical expertise and in doing so, making Yavneh College so proud yet again.
