STEM CAREER TALK – 18th September

On Wednesday 18th September we were delighted to welcome Joel Levitan, a Yavneh College alumnus, to give an inspirational talk on aerospace engineering and pilot studies. Everyone present was inspired not just by his academic course but also by the additional societies Joel is actively involved with. If anyone present hadn’t yet thought of this career path they almost certainly will be now! Joel’s answers to pupils questions were both insightful and helpful to everyone present.

Year 12 Mentoring Programme (September)

Over sixty year 12 students applied to student mentors to fulfil their GiveBack weekly volunteering within school obligations.

Sixteen students were selected for this programme and will now embark on a training course which runs twice a week for the first half term to help prepare them for this role. These students will then begin to mentor lower school students in November. The programme and training is overseen by Mr Harsha (our Wellbeing Officer)

The rest of Year 12 students will fulfil their GiveBack obligations either through helping students in the primary school or supporting Enrichment lessons in the lower school.

Peace of Mind – Year 12 special Assembly (12th September)

During the first few weeks of September, Borehamwood and Elstree Shul was able to host 20 Israeli soldiers from an elite unit who are being supported in their return to civilian life.

Working with the Israeli charity Peace of Mind, these soldiers were able to visit England and speak at a variety of events and schools.

Year 12 were privileged to have a special assembly this morning where many of these soldiers spoke about their experiences and took questions.
